Didn't We Have A Lovely Time - Bangor

Yes, it's the wrong Bangor for the Fiddler's Dram song, but no matter.

The fog thinned enough for us to leave Strangford Lough, late morning, on the last of the tide.  Once outside, it was too murky to see any land and we sailed in a world of our own.  We kept careful watch, looking out for inshore yachts and fishing craft but only saw fishing floats.  The wind was a reasonable southerly force 3 to 4, pretty much dead astern, so we poled out the genoa and rolled gently down-seas.  This is more like it:  Warmer winds from a good direction!

As we headed up through Donaghadee Sound, inside Copeland Island, the fog cleared completely and we came hard on the wind on flat water, with Bangor looking very pretty to windward.

Bangor from the NE
And now we are settled into the very civilised marina, with a 5 anchor rating, no less!  Yesterday was a cultural trip to Belfast (including Ulster and Titanic museums) and today boat maintenance, cleaning and washing.  The galley light is now working!

Tomorrow we are expecting strong winds and rain but after that we'll head north once again.  Sadly, we have managed to miss out most of Wales and all of the Isle of Man but there's always next time!
